Xiomara De Oliver

I am resigned to looking at places where I really don't belong. I navigate environments that place us within distinct political and social contexts while clothed in the impositions of history by way of race and gender. It is the discomfort of these constructions, contradictions and shifting landscapes that inform my work.I live and work in Brooklyn, New York, but for better or worse my heart belongs to California.

I exhibit in Europe and in the U.S. My work can be found in collections at The Judith Rothschild Contemporary Drawings Collection, MOMA, New York, Studio Museum of Harlem, New York, Peter Norton Family Foundation, Santa Monica, California, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Contemporary Art Foundation, Vienna.
