Grisha Bluger

Artist and illustrator

I was born in Russia and live in Israel. In 1983 I graduated from the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.

A major part of my work consists of artist books. The main technique I work in, linocut printing, enables me to combine the images with the text, which to me is an inseparable part of the whole.

Prints and paintings of mine have been exhibited in galleries in Israel and abroad, and one of my books, Sambuc Majadara, won Honorary Mention in the Ben Yizhak Prize for Illustrated Books, Israel Museum, 2004.

My interest in moveable mechanical contraptions has me making toys, games and puppets; I can build a claimba too, but I can’t play it.
