Thatcher Keats

Thatcher Keats is a self taught photographer who takes pictures of people (and places and things). He loves everybody as much as the other: the kids, the monks, the scoundrels, the yentas, the beardos, This is the wide demographic that he mines for photographs. He tries to fold jokes and references into his images from sounds and music, from movies and literature, as well as from current events as well as the mundane aspects of life. Many of these images use dramatic lighting and a sometimes complex and poetic structure, and often indicate a deep level of intimacy and access to his subjects. Workspaces have included the New York City Subway System, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Yaddo, ClampArt,, book jackets, album covers and magazines. His book CONFIDENCE GAMES was published by Charta Italy.
