Natasha Sweeten

Natasha Sweeten was born in Lexington, Kentucky and earned degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Bard College. What she is best known for are her small, abstract oil on wood panel paintings: "What gives them their kick is her intimate gift for using paint to evoke…forms in subtle, nuanced colors…reworking until the forms play blithely off each other in quirky but coherent compositions" (Grace Glueck, the New York Times). Her honors include a 2006 NYFA artist fellowship, several residencies at Yaddo and MacDowell and a PS122 Space Program studio fellowship. She has exhibited nationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, Zg Gallery in Chicago and Blue Star Contemporary Art Center in San Antonio. Her work has been reviewed in the New York Times, Art in America and the Village Voice, among other publications. Natasha is represented by Edward Thorp Gallery in New York City and Nuartlink Gallery in Westport, Connecticut. Link: www.natashasweeten.com
