Barry Coffin

I was born in Lawrence Kansas.I lived there most of my life until I moved to Santa Fe,New Mexico to attend the Institute of American Indian Arts.I am Potawatomi and Creek American Indian.While I was a student at the Institute I entered an art show at the Heard Museum in Phoenix Arizona.I received a first place award for sculpture.It was the first art show I had ever entered.After I graduated from art school I received numerous awards at the annual Santa Fe Indian Market.My sculptures are in many museum permanent collections.Including the Institute of American Indian Arts museum,the Heard museum,the New Mexico Fine Arts museum,the Denver Arts museum in Colorado,the Eiteljorg museum in Indianapolis,the Buffalo Bill Cody museum in Cody,Wyoming,and the Wheelwright museum in Santa Fe.I have shown my art work at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York,the Smithsonian museum of the American Indian in New York,the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.,the Mandeliew Culture Center in France,and the Chateau de La Napoule in France.My art is in private collections around the world.
