Monali Meher

Monali Meher, Graduated from Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai, 1990. In 1998 received ‘Unesco -Aschberg’ Residency in Vienna. With her first performance, ‘Reflect: A personal window display’, at Jehangir art gallery in Mumbai, she made a statement, ‘Nothing is permanent & it’s a nature’s law’. In 2000-’01 received residency at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam.

Meher works in broad spectrum of media e.g. performance, Installation, Video, Photography and drawing.

She performed at MIP, Brazil, NMAC Foundation, Spain, Hau Eins Berlin, Goliath New York, Tate modern, London, Gouda Museum NL, Dadao festival, Beijing, 1st Sinop Biennale, Turkey, National review on live art, Glasgow, Rijksmuseum Twenthe NL, FEM Gresol, Girona, Spain, Khoj Live, New Delhi, “In Determination”, Art Dubai, supported by Mondriaan foundation, NCPA Mumbai, ‘Rebelle’ (Art & Feminism 1969- 2009) MMKA Museum, Arnhem, Museum-night, Oude kerk Amsterdam, Infr’action Sete, France, MAXXI Museum Rome, and Guangzhou Live, China.

Her recent shows, FrictiveFamiliarities’ Stockholm, ArtHK11 Hongkong, Prague Biennale 5th, Crossroads: India Escalate and ‘Who is Afraid of Oriental girls’ NL.

She received LIVE Funds by funds BKVB for site-specific project, ‘Measures & Weights’, and her durational public space installation, ‘The bridge Is Open’ underneath the bridge was funded by AFK Amsterdam.
