Tamara Gayer

Born in NYC, Tamara Gayer grew up in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. She holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from Hunter College. In New York her work has been shown at Priska Juschka Fine Art, Foxy Production, Mixed Greens and Exit Art among others. She is represented in several prominent collections including that of the Museum of Modern Art.

Tamara Gayer is an artist transfixed by the city. Suspended between the impulses of an image maker and a builder she creates work that mutates from drawing to installation to video.  In juxtaposing images of built spaces with geometric expanses, Tamara tries to represent the daily reconfiguration one performs living in the city. What it takes to get from here to there?  What is used? What is discarded? What is repurposed?  This conversation between artist and viewer, about the constant changes in a shared space, aims to figure out how to build the city of the tomorrow.
